HW for Scott
It's about the hurricane Katrina which had hit America terribly.
What is your reaction to this news segment and the issues that were raised in it?
What happened in New Orleans was just horrible and I couldn't believe it.
I thought that the situation was similar to the one when a huge earthquake hit Kobe, Japan, in 1995. More than 5,500 people had died because no one was ready for such a big disaster. After the earhquake, the situation was just like how it is now in New Orleans. People had no place to live, no food to eat, and no water to drink or take shower. However, there were not any problems about race or class in Kobe. This time in America, problems of race and class have greatly showen up because of this disaster and it's devastating.
I believe in this phrase which people often say, "everything happens for a reason."
If it is true, why did this terrible disaster happen? The answer could be a lot of things but I guess it happened for the perception of people who has made mistakes for a long time. How long have people in the US been fighting about the race, especially between blacks and whites, and their fight never ends. I really hope that people notice something this time and the things will get better.
