HW Assignment
What Is Intelligence?
#1. Why is society interested in your intelligence and schooling?
When you write your résumé to get a job, you usually have to write which schools you graduated, where you have worked, and the degrees you have. You might think this way: are these information really important? Why do the employers need them? The reason why society is interested in your intelligence and schooling is to know what kind of person you are. Schooling is not all about studying, but your intelligence in many aspects. Simply, well-educated person is better than uneducated person. Again education includes not only studying but also how to behave, how to understand the other’s feeling, I mean, it could be anything you have learned in your school days. Of course there are many other ways and things to perceive who you are, but knowing your intelligence and schooling could be part of it.
#2. How has your education affected your intelligence?
AS I just mentioned, education could be anything that you’ve been taught and learned in school and at home. The basic subjects I have taken in school such as Japanese, math, history, science, English, music, art, gym, and so on do help me to live in society as a normally educated person. It is difficult to be a grown-up without finishing compulsory education and the knowledge you have learned, are very useful in many situations. As I have got knowledge of the things in school and at home, I expand them into wisdom.
#3. What is emotional intelligence?
Hmmm this is a tough question, so I would like to hear other’s pinions. I think emotional intelligence is about one’s feeling and sense. When you are sad, you know how to cry and when you are happy, you know how to laugh. Expressing your feeling is important to communicate with people and if you are emotionally intelligent, you might know how you can control your feeling and the actual behavior, so that the mood doesn’t get bad. I would say that it is connected with communication. Being emotional, but not too be emotional is the smart way to live in a society.

You are intelligent!! I had no idea about emotional intelligence until I read your posting. I guess that we need to know how to express their own emotion through tough lives.
P.S. About Alicia's CD mmmm I think you are a type of pop music??? maybe you don't like it...but let's try!
I strongly agree with you about education could be not only about studying, but anything we learn in the school or daily life. I think why society is interested in your intelligence is related to this point.
As you said, education could be anything we've learned and everything is going to be part of the intelligence.
by the way... i don't clearly understand this subject:-( it's very complicated and for me, it's hard to understand what the article says. somebody help me---
I agree with your idea about schooling. Though I don't mean I disagree with your idea, I think that even if the person is not good at communicating with others or pervasive, maybe that person would graduate from school.
I don't know well about what emotional intelligence is, but your idea helped me understand the meaning of emotional intelligence. Thank you!
Yuri, I'm glad that you've inspired and educated your classmates. I agree with your opinion of emotional intelligence... when people think of intelligence they often forget about one of the most important parts -- the ability to function in society and work well with others. To do that, you need to be able to "put yourself in someone else's shoes." In other words, understand how they feel, respect how they think, and learn to find common ground. Many people who possess other types of intelligence have little ability to do this.
